Abstract

The article investigated the different approaches to the definition of "tourism industry". The key reports and documents that characterize modern trends of international organizations in the field of tourism are highlighted. Internationally comparable tourism characteristic products and activities are submitted. A comparison of the list of specific tourist services that form the basis for the international and domestic accounting are carried out. Substantiated that each tourism industry is composed of all establishments whose main activity is a particular tourism characteristic activity that serves visitors directly. The classification of the basic categories of employed persons in the tourism industry is submitted, allocated their two main groups: the self-employed and paid employment: paid employment, self-employment. The peculiarities that should be taken into account in the analysis and accounting of employment in the tourism industries are formulated
