Abstract
Objective. To explore peculiarities of formation Ukrainian medical terms called illnesses. Methods. Comparative analysis, synthesis, descriptive, statistical method. Results. The general features of the use of terms for naming diseases in the 18th century advisers were analyzed. Phonetic, graphic, lexical and morphological features of the given vocabulary are singled out. The article describes the classification of the names of diseases based on the principle of taking into account the characteristics that influenced the nomination of terms. The following groups are distinguished: symptoms, the presentation of the causes of the disease, the method of distribution, the idea of the source of distribution, the names of imitation of sounds.
