Abstract
The article considaretes terms denoting names of diseases in medical vocabulary of XVIII century Ukrainian language, it presents an analysis of the specific category of communicable diseases. Methods. Theoretical, critical and system analysis, synthesis, descriptive, comparative-historical method. Results. The phonetic, spelling and lexical peculiarities of texts were determined. The analysis of the principles of the nomination of the most widespread diseases is presented, the nature of the Ukrainian conceptions of the time on the causes of the diseases, symptoms, methods of treatment are noted.
