Abstract

An integral part of cultural-historical and other types of tourism is the creation of cheap alternative of accommodation for travelers, in particularly hostels. The article analyzes the activity of hostels in Ukraine. It is determined that according to the results of 2017 the share of hostels is only 1.45% of the number of hotels and similar facilities and 0.87% of the total number of collective accommodation facilities in Ukraine. It is noted that there is a rapid growth of hostels in regional centers and tourist cities of Ukraine. This situation means that popularity of the sphere begins to develop at a considerable pace. It is established that Ukrainian hostels are popular among foreign tourists. Nevertheless, there are revealed the main problems in the activity of Ukrainian hostels. It is also established that the number of hostels opened in Ukraine does not always offer high-quality service. Thus, there are developed the recommendations for the success of hostels in Ukraine. In conditions of modern competition for the purpose of competent and profitable functioning of hostels attention should be paid to creating comfortable and cozy conditions for hostel clients, to monitor the activities of competitors, to improve constantly the level of service, based on successful foreign practices. The advantages of designing the "Ukrainian flavour" hostel in Kyiv are substantiated. The designed hostel will include: a hotel, a cafeteria, a souvenir shop, a gym, a library, a children's playground, a tour desk, a creative workshop, a sports and health center, a car and bicycle parking lot, a rental point for bicycles, skates, tennis and volleyball equipment. The article presents the infrastructure components of the hostel, gives grounds for the concept and develops interior and design proposals. It also proposes a menu for the cafeteria Hostel "Ukrainian flavour" can become an integral part of cultural and historical tourism of Ukraine. The successful establishment and functioning of the "Ukrainian Flavour" Hostel will allow to disseminate information about the historical and recreational places of Ukraine, as well as the cultural heritage of the country among domestic and foreign tourists. An integral part of cultural-historical and other types of tourism is the creation of cheap alternative of accommodation for travelers, in particularly hostels.
