Abstract

The article analyzes the scientists’ approaches to the definition of the professional competence concept. Emphasizes the importance of introducing a competent approach to the theory and practice of modern education, emphasizes the need for the formation of professional competence and considers its invariant structure. Undoubtedly, competence is a multilevel internal phenomenon with components of cognitive, expressive and interactive nature. This is a complex system of internal psychological components and personality traits of a specialist, which includes knowledge and skills. Based on the system-structural approach, the analysis of professional competence as a holistic system includes the study of the peculiarities of the professional activity of a specialist in the real production system and the forms of ideal reproduction in it of real reality and an analysis of its constructive and creative activity. An analysis of domestic and foreign studies has shown that competence should be considered as a systemic personality trait, which will reflect the result of education and the quality of training a specialist. However, the implementation of a competent approach in higher education is not always guided by the final results of training specialists and does not take in to account the level of development of professional competence, which greatly reduces the efficiency of professional training of specialist
