Abstract
The article analyzes and summarizes the problems of terminology; the views of scientists on the status of the term in modern linguistics are considered; the achievements and problematic issues of modern terminological research are substantiated; еhe linguistic foundations of the terminological competence formation are defined. The article also defines the priority direction of the universities for increasing competitiveness and outlines the role of foreign students in this process; the goals of attracting foreign students to Ukrainian universities were determined and aspects of the terminological competence formation were analyzed
