Abstract

Objective. The objective of this study is to determine the nature of the transport infrastructure, the positive and negative factors influencing its development. Methods. Theoretical and methodological basis of the research are the fundamental provisions of the economic theory of international economics, works of national and foreign scientists to study the formation and development of transport infrastructure. The study is based on the dialectical method of knowledge and a systematic approach. Basic scientific results are obtained applying complex scientific methods of research, namely, theoretical generalization, induction and deduction. Results. Modern approaches to defining the essence of the concept of ‘transport infrastructure’ are distinguished, the basic provisions of the proposed theories are codified and the general concept is presented. Some criteria for evaluating the efficiency of transport infrastructure development, including the use of minimum transport standard are defined. The factors affecting the development of transport infrastructure are determined, these factors are grouped into two categories - driving forces and inhibiting factors.
