Abstract

The article presents a critical analysis of existing definitions of the “travel service” term. It allowed to form a personal vision of the nature and properties of the investigated concepts. Content analysis of the category "travel service" allowed to identify approaches to its interpretation which in turn can be used both individually and generate symbiosis: travel service as a set of actions or production activities; as a segment of service industry; as a tool to satisfy the needs of tourists; as an object of market relations. The extension classification of tourist services based on thirteen criteria are offered. It was determined that the specificity of the creation, delivery and consumption of tourist services generates their characteristic features. Systematization and supplement of existing concepts have allowed to offer an exhaustive list of these features
