Abstract
The objective of the article is to prove on the basis of theoretical analysis and synthesis of own pedagogical experience in teaching foreign language in higher school the means of study in the process оf foreign languages learning directly contribute to the permanent growth of the level of students’ cognitive autonomy. Methodological basis of the present research presupposes the following kinds of analysis: analysis and synthesis of scientific, popular scientific, and educational literature on the problems of cognitive autonomy notion definition; system analysis; combining historical and logical methods in the study; allocation of subsystems of complex objects and their system analysis, holistic, integrated approach to the study of pedagogical phenomena. Theoretically substantiated and summarized the level of learning ability and knowledge should be increased in direct correlation, depending on the student’s material works independently. The teacher and effective organization of the educational activities have to help while learning a foreign language in higher education, which would facilitate continuous growth of the formation level of cognitive autonomy the individual student in order to prepare the student for an absolute cognitive autonomy at the end of the study.
