Abstract

The article attempts to demonstrate how the writer was able to create the psychological content of the novel through means of cinemapoetics. With help of cinemapoetics tools (montage, shot, background, perspective, mise-en-scene), S. Zweig reproduced historical episodes full of tragedy, emotional feelings and experiences. However, the novel has not lost its literary basis, unlike most of the 20th-century boom films. It indicates about the innate cinematic vision of the writer and is one of the reasons why S. Zweig is considered to be one of the most famous Austrian writers in the world.
