Abstract
The article deals with peculiarities of the civilization potential of entrepreneurship development in Ukraine. The motives of entrepreneurial activity were determined. Ukraine's membership in the border model of civilization were established, which suggested that the country has a significant civilization potential for the development of entrepreneurship, however, at the same time heterogeneity and, as a result, lack of awareness of belonging to a certain community, functioning in the continuum of qualitatively unstable states, does not allow to realize given potential in full. This is precisely what causes the formation of institutions unfavorable to business development and motivational mechanisms.
