Abstract

The article describes the features of social insurance and provides an assessment of its status at this stage of economic development of the country. A number of shortcomings of the current social security system have been identified. Attention is paid to clarifying the difference between free or voluntary insurance and compulsory and compulsory insurance. The conclusion about the funds in the list of directions of use is made. The main problems and factors limiting the development of this line of insurance are analyzed. It is established that at the present stage of economic development in Ukraine there is no effective social insurance system. The main directions of improvement of the social insurance system in Ukraine are identified. Recommendations are given to increase the efficiency of social insurance in Ukraine. The prospects for further research in this area are outlined. The problems of implementation of the mandatory accumulation level of the pension system and proposals for their solution are identified.
