Abstract

Goal. Identify the role of social networks and social capital in job search strategies. Methods. The complex of general scientific methods of epistemology is used: theoretical generalization, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction. The initial fact of the study is the finding of the dependence of job search on the ramifications of social networks, especially weak social connections. Results. The role of social contacts in the job search process is analyzed. Attention is drawn to the structure of the social network, as well as the role and features in the search for work of social capital. The relationship between the potential of social capital and the effectiveness of social contacts is revealed. There is a greater potential for weak social connections than strong ones. At the same time, attention is paid to the practicality of strong social networks in the face of economic instability. The dissemination of information technology contributes to the growing role of social contacts in addressing a variety of issues, especially employment. It is emphasized that the role of social networks to date is reduced not so much to information about a vacant job, but to obtaining important information about the requirements put forward to the candidate.
