Abstract

The purpose of this article is to build an economic and mathematical model of economic activity of the enterprise as an independent economic unit for maximum profit. The main task of management is to determine the output that maximizes profit. This is the task at the heart of firm theory in the interpretation of price theory. The article proposes a scientific approach to modeling the economic activity of the enterprise as a “gray” box. The category of the concept “enterprise” in modern economic science is investigated for the ambiguity of its interpretation. Critical analysis of the approaches to economic analysis of the company’s activity revealed significant differences. Differences reflect the principled position of the approach and are largely based on the process that focuses on what happens inside the enterprise. Harmonization of the views of modern economic theories allows actualizing the coordination of activities within the enterprise and replaces market coordination, when the transaction costs of using the price mechanism become high and lead to economic losses. The article solves the actual problem – optimal management taking into account the assumptions about the internal mechanisms of its economic activity. In economical-mathematical modeling, the assumptions adopted are quite close to reality and are convenient for analysis. The sequence of statement and problem solving is formally represented. The scientific novelty of the proposed approach is: a thorough, meaningful analysis of modern approaches to the methodology of enterprise definition as an economic unit; innovative principles of formalization of the internal environment of the enterprise as an economic unit. The practice of using the resulting model allows optimizing the parameters of the internal environment of the operation of the enterprise. An analysis of the results of modeling the activity of the mining enterprise, conducted on a certain statistical material, allowed obtaining quantitative estimates of the performance indicators of the enterprise. The estimates obtained proved the validity of the proposed model. It is recommended to implement the developed economic-mathematical model in the practice of managing the economic activity of mining enterprises.
