Abstract
The article examines various methodological approaches to defining the criteria of social justice in economic relations that prevailed in the twentieth century. Social justice is one of the main principles of a socially oriented market economy. It is related to the distribution and redistribution of goods, the regulation of market and economic relations, the provision of basic political, economic and social rights and freedoms, social protection of the population. Despite its great scientific heritage, which reveals the essence and content of social justice, this category continues to be one of the most controversial. Any understanding of social justice is inevitably equated with the methods and measures by which this social state can be achieved, that is, politics. Special attention is paid to economic policy, since in the economic sphere, injustice is most noticeable. This is reflected in the different access of members of society to economic goods. The purpose of the paper is to summarize contemporary views on the essence and content of the category «social justice» and to formulate perspective directions of research. Various scientist offer their own vision of social justice by absolutizing certain components of this multifaceted category. But as a result, any economic relations at any time during the existence of mankind were unfair. So far, the society has not developed such mechanisms of self-regulation that would direct it to the state of social justice. In this sense, social justice does not act as an absolute material category. A perspective area of research is the socio-psychological interpretation of this category as an idea, a product of consciousness created by the mind of man. Social justice is what society is aware of. The changing nature of social consciousness is reflected in the understanding of the criteria of social justice. It can be argued that the absence of overt and hidden conflicts in society demonstrates compliance with the principles of social justice. Therefore, any distribution of economic goods is justice if it is voluntary on the part of members of society, that is, in the current socio-economic conditions does not cause dissatisfaction and desire to change it to another.
