Abstract
The article presents an analysis of phraseological fund of the Ukrainian and English languages from the point of view of the studied concepts that are very similar in their expressions and values. It was determined that the differences are due to different cultural levels of different countries and the direction of development and evolution of the English-speaking and Russian-speaking communities. Clarified ways of expressing concepts of “розум/wit” and “дурість/stupidity” through the language units.
