Abstract
In the article the didactic model of formation of design and development competence of future engineers in the process of graphic preparation is developed, which combines four interconnected blocks: target, molding, diagnostic and effective; active methods and technical means for activating cognitive activity are offered; It was found out that the unity of approaches put into the didactic model promotes not only the acquisition of competences in accordance with educational requirements, but also the formation of personal and professional qualities for a future engineer.
