Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of the impact of globalization processes on the socio-economic development of the Middle East countries, which in recent years are a zone of strategic interests of the world's leading powers. Methods. The study is based on the dialectical method of knowledge and systematic approach. Basic scientific results were obtained using the complex scientific and special methods of investigation, namely the systematization and generalization (to justify the essence of globalization), the abstract logic and statistical analysis (to justify the development trends of the Middle East and the impact of globalization on the characteristics of their development). Results. The peculiarites of the region in the context of globalization were given. The essence of globalization and its role as a formation factor of a new world order were established. Tendencies of development of the countries of the Middle East were analysed, as well as the influence of globalization processes on their formation were established. Scientific novelty. The assessment of the trends and characteristics of social and economic development of the Middle East countries has been developed, which allowed to establish the following: a significant influence of geopolitical factors on their develop ment; a striking level of asymmetry of their development level; dependence of the development on the degree of interaction with more developed countries; preservation and accumulation of a number of social problems. The practical significance. The practical significance of the study is evaluation of tendencies of development in the Middle East, which can be used in the development of cooperation programs, including ones with the participation of Ukraine.
