Abstract
The objective of the article is to define the difference between economic and national welfare, explore how the use of certain instruments of state regulation of the economy affect domestic national welfare. In the research process it was found that the use of subsidies in the mining and metallurgical industry regulation in Ukraine has a number of positive and negative consequences. Just to the latter deadweight losses in the national welfare are included. State regulation in Ukraine is imperfect and there are several other reasons of that negative effect on the welfare of the country. It is therefore necessary to shape the political, economic and social consciousness and to encourage all members of society to fulfil certain mental rules
